From a tiny shop in Chinatown to kitchens across America.
Eggloo was founded in 2016 with a simple mission: to share the joy of Hong Kong-style egg waffles with the world. Inspired by the street food stalls of Hong Kong and the vibrant food culture of New York City's Chinatown, they opened the first Eggloo shop at 60 Mulberry Street.
The egg waffle โ known as "gai daan jai" (้ท่ไป) in Cantonese โ is a beloved street snack with a crispy exterior and soft, custard-like interior. Eggloo reimagined this classic treat by rolling it into a cone and filling it with ice cream, toppings, and endless creativity.
What started as a small dessert shop quickly became a viral sensation, drawing lines around the block and earning features in Vogue, ABC News, Business Insider, and dozens of other outlets. But our vision was always bigger than one storefront.
Today, Eggloo brings the egg waffle experience directly to your kitchen with our signature dry mixes. Just add a few simple ingredients, and you can make authentic Hong Kong egg waffles at home โ in classic, matcha, chocolate, and seasonal flavors.
Our Journey

What Makes Us Different
Hong Kong Authentic
Our recipes are rooted in the traditional gai daan jai (้ท่ไป) street food of Hong Kong, perfected over years in our NYC shop.
Premium Ingredients
From organic matcha to 100% pure cocoa, we never compromise on quality. Simple ingredients, extraordinary flavor.
Family-Owned
Founded by Mike and David in Chinatown, Eggloo is still independently run with the same passion we started with.
From Shop to Home
When the pandemic hit in 2020, we made the difficult decision to close our beloved Chinatown shop. But giving up was never an option. We spent months perfecting our dry waffle mix recipes so that anyone, anywhere in the country, could recreate the Eggloo experience at home. What started as a pivot became a new chapter โ shipping authentic Hong Kong egg waffle mixes to doorsteps nationwide.

Our Mission
To make the joy of Hong Kong egg waffles accessible to everyone, everywhere โ one mix at a time.
